Nature, TRAVEL and heart - from the very beginning
MOYO Training Foundation was founded in 2023, driven by a belief that tourism can be a force for good – for nature, wildlife, and the people who live and work in these places. MOYO means “heart” in Swahili. The MOYO community consists of people who choose to do tourism differently – with care, courage, and commitment.
We are a non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting nature, biodiversity, and communities through high-quality, nature-positive training programmes. We connect people with nature in ways that inspire care, responsibility, and action.
For too long, tourism has focused on “doing less harm”. While that matters, we believe it is time to go further. Nature Positive Tourism is about actively restoring ecosystems, supporting rewilding, and creating meaningful opportunities for local people – while offering deeply enriching experiences for travellers and professionals alike.
In 2026, MOYO Training Foundation initiated MOYO Nature Travel – a way to offer more nature-positive travel experiences together with our partners. This initiative also serves as a direct way to fund our Nature Positive Tourism (NPT) training programs, creating a circular model where travel directly supports education, community development, and conservation.
To make our impact tangible, 10% of your trip is reinvested directly into nature conservation and rewilding projects, and into expanding access to training through subsidised places. We also actively fundraise to make sure guides and small tourism entrepreneurs – especially those closest to nature – can participate regardless of cost.
MOYO has been recognised as a Rising Star in Education-Based Wildlife Conservation in Europe and Best New NGO Netherlands in 2025.
